When a De Haardt shutdown command misses one kart, the remote is not automatically at fault. Work from the handheld unit to the kart-mounted transponder and change one variable at a time.
First define the fault
- Does the command fail on every kart, one group or one kart?
- Does it fail everywhere or only in one part of the circuit?
- Is the problem constant or intermittent over bumps, vibration or heat?
- Did it begin after a transponder, cable, engine, battery or system setting was changed?
Check the remote
Confirm the remote is charged, powered correctly and showing the expected battery status. The cited Xtra.Remote manual specifies two rechargeable AA NiMH batteries and warns against alkaline, lithium, mixed-age or mixed-manufacturer batteries. It can also operate or charge through the supplied USB connection.
Confirm the intended kart, group, sector and speed command before testing. Start with one stationary kart in a controlled area rather than sending repeated fleet-wide commands.
Separate a range problem from a kart problem
If several karts fail in the same area, test from another safe trackside position and inspect the site layout, range-extender or sector equipment. If only one kart fails everywhere, concentrate on its transponder, power supply, antenna position, wiring and configuration.
Inspect the kart-mounted equipment
- Identify whether the kart uses a petrol CDI transponder or an EV unit.
- Check the transponder and loom for damage, loose plugs, corrosion, trapped wires and poor strain relief.
- Verify power or ignition connections against the exact installation diagram.
- Inspect the transition cable and universal power coil where fitted.
- Compare the suspect kart with one known-good kart of the same configuration.

Use a controlled swap test
Where the manufacturer permits it, swap one known-good component at a time: remote, kart transponder, transition cable or power connection. If several items are changed together, the fault may disappear without revealing the cause. Do not bypass or permanently defeat the shutdown system to keep the kart operating.
