Brake rods take more abuse than they look like they should. On a rental fleet they're adjusted frequently, exposed to track grime, and occasionally bent by a kart that's found a barrier at the wrong angle. A bent or seized rod causes inconsistent pedal feel and unreliable braking — neither of which you want on a customer-facing fleet.
